34" x 10.5" LTB's on 15" x 7" black steel wheels for sale!!
Just throwing this out to all the locals... but I have a used set of 34" x 10.5" LTB's on 15" x 7" black steel wheels for sale. Roughly 85% (probably more) tread left on a wheel and tire combo that was strictly used offroad. I am asking $600 OBO for the set... which is a pretty good deal! If any of you are interested... PM me and I can get you my nember. These are also posted on Craigslist locally. Sorry no pics... but can show you them in person if you would like! -Joe

Joe,
I have a few questions for you...I have been thinking about getting a set of 34x10.50.15 LTBs, for a long time.
1.) Are they still for sale as of November 21, 2008?
2.) Why are you getting rid of them? i.e. do they work good on an XJ?
3.) How much lift to keep these bad boys from rubbing, I'm talking to give them enough room to fully stuff at full turn while wheeling? I have about 5.5-6" of lift.
4.) Are these tires loud on the road?
5.) Do they wear fast on the road? I noted you said you only used them off road.
6.) Where in Washington are you located. I am on Whidbey Island?
Please get back to me ASAP,
Brian

Brian,
Sorry... but the wheels and tires have been sold for a while now. But I can answer the questions that you asked fairly well as I... and a couple other guys I wheel with have them on their Cherokees as well.
The unanimous decision is that the LTB's are amazing off road. They do well in all conditions... providing you have them mounted on an 8" wheel... and not the 7" wheels that I had. The problems that I encountered due to the 7" wide wheel was when I was in snow. It just wasn't enough width to stay on top of the snow... so hence I sunk and got stuck.
I have at least 6" of lift on my Cherokee and decided to run 35"x 13.5" Nitto MT's instead of the 34" LTB's and have no rubbing issues at all. Therefore, your lift and properly trimmed fenders should have no problem stuffing the 34's while wheelin and turning sharp corners when street driving.
Like I had posted... I never drove the Cherokee on the street, so I can't tell you how they wore... but the guys that I wheel with have driven on the street with them and had no problems and they wore just like a standard Super Swamper (or any like tire) would. From what I hear... they aren't real loud either. So you should be fine! They guys in my group love them and swear by them. So I would say go for it... just make sure you don't go too skinny... its a pain in the snow.
By the way... I live in Gig Harbor and am a part of the Rainier Scramblers Jeep Club.
Hope this helped!

Joe,
Sucks your tires and wheels sold. That was a smokin deal. Thank you for the gouge on how the tires work on and off road. I really needed to hear from somebody who had them on an XJ before I drop the cash. I am still a little torn as you said the narrow tread (10.50) tended to not ride on top of snow too well. The other 2 tires I've been considering besides the 34x10.50 LTBs are Pro Comp 33x12.50 Muds or Cooper Discoverer SST 33x12.50 Muds. I wanted the hight of the 34s but I have had good luck with a 12.20 foot print while wheeling in snow.

Goog luck with whatever you decide... let me know as I am curious how you like what you get. I have a bunch of buddies that have XJ's... and they always like hearing about a possible new choice in tire!
