Xj wont start
I have a 2000 xj that was just running yesterday. Last night I went to start it and it won’t crank but everything will come on. All my fuses are fine and my starter is hooked up and everything I’ve hit the starter with a hammer a couple of times and it still won’t start any ideas?

Try starting while "wiggling" the shift handle. Try starting in neutral.
If either of these techniques allows the engine to turn over, you have identified an NSS problem. If these techniques don't help, you can also bypass the NSS which would totally rule out the NSS.

Fuses are good, that's good. Now what happens when you turn the key to start?
don't hit the shifter with a hammer, dave lol
-nothing
-engibe turns over but won't start
-if it's nss it should start in neutral, look at reverse lights when shifted in reverse, they likely will be out if this Is the case, but I'm not so sure. If its on FLAT ground and its just you, crank the e brake, put it in reverse and get out to look if it doesn't move, shouldnt.
- physically check, wiggle inspect all grounds, all positive wires. I have had marine terminals once and looks good doesn't cut it. you need to know all contacts are good, secure, and clean.
- turn your headlights on and try to start, any fade, any light at all? Also not my first thought ,but if all else fails.
- ohm test your crank position sensor, if nothing else gives results.
Were any lights left on, have you tried jump starting?

Definitely check your battery terminals are clean and tight. It's not at all uncommon for the connection to be loose, but good enough to power the light loads for the lights/radio etc, but not be good enough to do a heavier load task such as firing the starter.
