Default xj soft doors

i have had this idea for a while to make tube doors and send the measurements to bestop to have neoprene cut for them. i would then have soft doors like wranglers do. here is a pic i drew up in paint. i think it would look pretty cool

Sign me up for a pair. I was thinkin about making tubedoors and figure out how to put some kinda of material over it, maybe find a wrecked soft top off an older wrangler or cj or something and cut it up to fit around the tubes.

Its funny you bring this up. I have been thinking about how to do this for a few weeks. The idea I came up with was to build the tube doors, Then make a set of frames that fit the whole door opening out of the same small diamiter steel rod as the wrangler soft doors. Then to make 4 upsidedown u shaped brackets to hold onto the tubes. Followed by a trip to my local uhposter to attach a custom soft top material with a window stitched in, and a few nylon straps to secure the soft door in place on the tube door when hooked in.

Thats the idea I came up with anyway. Hope to get the time to do it this summer! Would be nice to run the tube doors and have a set of soft doors in the back incase I get caught in a nasty rain storm.

you and me think alike. i have thought about almost the same thing. weatherstripping and all. i was looking at an old cj and came up with the idea. also, most people bolt on their doors. i want to be able to lift mine right off, just like the cj

Yea, there are allot of threads about going doorless, and tube doors. But not many about soft doors to keep the weather out. I was thinking make the tube doors, then make the soft door an add on. When you go doorless, you are cutting the hinges and basically making your doors lift off. Just like the cj's.
