My '95 XJ Auto Trans. 4.0 H.O. 4x4 is sputtering and dying in any forward gear (ex. drive, 1, 3). It runs rough in neutral and park but runs perfect in reverse. There are no trouble codes. The transmission is not the problem according to the tranny shop and an ASE master certified mechanic told me it had to be some kind of sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a good look at all wiring, check grounds on the engine block, check the wires to your cam and crank sensors . Does your engine trans move around a lot , worn mounts?
check o2 sensor harness (this caused greif on mine)
