You have the SE nodel if it has no other labels on it, you don't have a tach, any power options, etc. You have the base model XJ. Of course, it is possible that the first owner bought additional options on it, but I bet you have no fancy options on your SE model XJ.

All midsized box looking SUVs made by Jeep (1984 - 2001) that they called a Cherokee are considered an XJ.....no matter the trim level. I just love mine!!!!!

Not exactly... it depends on the year and size. The XJs were made from 1984-2001. There was also a fullsized Cherokee/Wagoneer called the SJ made between 1963 and 1991.

Then if you want to get technical, in the export market the Liberty is called the Cherokee so there is also a KJ Cherokee,

Default What the heck's a ZJ??

I have a '95 Laredo model and according to the ever reliable Wikipedia, mine's a ZJ. Here's a quote:

"The ZJ models, manufactured from 1993 to 1998, originally came in three general trims, the Base, Laredo, and the Limited."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_Grand_Cherokee

Anyone ever heard of this and are these models considered "undesirable"?

I effing love my cherokee and this website!!!

Later.

I know when the XJ's were made and I know what they are. I know what a Grand Wagoneer is as well as the pre-84 Cherokees. What does that have to do with me answering part of his question? My bad, should have put that all 84-01 Cherokee's are XJ's.

Yep... wasnt trying to rag on you or anything, just wanting to clarify. The OP asked if ALL Jeep Cherokees are XJs... You replied yes. Though you may know the different Cherokee years and designations it appears the OP does not. I apologize if I offended you.

No worries man. No matter what anyone says or thinks it's still very difficult to read emotion on the internet. You didn't offend me. I have stuff like this happen alot and I think I just need to type more when I reply, I never give enough detail.
