XJ lift

Quick question right now i have 4.5" in the rear so the rear sits higher than the front. the front has 3" pro comp springs with a spacer. i am installing an ARB bumper and a M8000 winch i think the front will really sag then. Is it ok to just install longer coil springs to make it even all around with the bumper on. I dont have the money to buy a whole new lift kit.

So i guess my question is is it ok to just install longer springs or will this mess up every thing?

Thanks:thumbsup:

i would install longer springs. are you going to be taking the winch or bumper off after you install them? it all depends on what you wanna do with it.

The longer springs will make your front wheels a little closer to the rear of the front wheel openings. My lift was 4.5 and I installed a 1.5 BB and that is all that happened to mine. It rides and flexes great otherwise.

i think you'd be able to to just install some longer coils.

BuckB91XJ 02-03-2009 11:42 PM

I added a 1 3/4" spacer to my 4.5" coils. If you just got a taller lift/longer coil it would amke the same result as I had.

Thanks guys but im dont have the bumper or winch on yet but i am thinking it will make the jeep lower in the front. trying to see if i can just install new springs to make a 4.5" lift all around when the bumper is on?:head:

swapp your coils out or add a bigger budget booster like a two inch, but you gotta do lower adjustable control arms, unless you trim your fenders becasue it will pussh your axle back.

I have my fenders trimmed too fit 33's when i get them so do you tthink the non ajus ones would work?

MasterShakeXJ 02-04-2009 12:07 AM

go with 4.5" coils to even it out. it'll settle with all that extra weight, might sag a tiny bit depending on the strength of the coils.

Thanks guys thats what i will do:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I would install the bumper and winch first and then measure to see how much height you really need.

Stillwater Outfitters XJ 02-04-2009 03:54 PM

Thats a good idea

okcjeeper 02-04-2009 04:03 PM

Yep mud that's a heck of an idea..Then you can make sure you get the proper coils and if need be a 3/4" spacer to help a bit..

XJersey 02-04-2009 05:53 PM

and then I'll buy your old coils! how much you want for them? :p

Hey i found rustys springs for $129
And
RE for $175 do you think there is a major difference between the two or would it not be smart to go the cheaper route rustys?
