Default Serpentine belt?

Hey I am replacing my serpentine belt but I want to loose the AC. What size belt do I need and how do I rout it? Thanks

You cannot do just a strict AC delete on the XJ without buying a bypass pulley. There is no "right" length belt if you were to ditch the AC

take a piece of rope or twine and wrap it around the pullys' w/o the a/c take that measurement to the parts store they are bound to have it. make sure the power steering is adjusted to the short side.

From what I heard it needs the length for power. It doesn't run properly with a shortened belt.

And because of the actual routing with AC, it is actually impossible to have a smaller belt as it wouldn't allow some pulleys to rotate the right way!

sounds like a trip to the wrecker to get an a/c delete bracket and pully then.
