xj axle specs

I need to change my differential fluid. build sheet lists axles as:

DJHS 230MM Front Axle (d30?)
DMDS 3.55 Rear Axle Ratio
DRJS 175MM Rear Axle (d35?)

Who knows if these are limited slip or not?

Gee oh Dee 07-10-2012 09:08 AM

The front is not a limited slip.

I dont remember if the D35 had limited slip as an option or not.

It had the option. Your build sheet and a sticker in your glove box would tell you if your jeep as equipped with a lsd.

Pull the cover and look or just dump limted slip oil in it won't hurt if it's not a LSD.

Thanks that's what I needed to know. It isn't listed on the build sheet or glove box look like it isn't.

Build sheets can be wrong. Mine came with the factory tow package but listed the rear as a d35 but it has a d44.

yeah who knows. I suppose I would like to know. How would I tell if it is a LS after the cover is popped off?

here is a pic between the two

Jack the rear end up and spin the wheel if the other one spins in same direction then you got LS. I think thats right.

Awesome thanks everyone!

I'm guessing the LS is the more complicated one on the right?

Edit: Got it done, I'm pretty sure It's not the original axle. Once all the gunk was scraped off I can see 3.55 d35 hand written on the cover. The internals look brand new, not sure if it's a LS but it was the one on the right in the picture.
