Wondering if anyone has experience/hints/tips/ideas for how to deal with rusted in bumpstop bolts. The passenger side was cake, took only a couple minutes to swap, but both drivers side bolts broke off. I got as far as drilling out most of the bolt as I could without damaging the nuts threads(I think). I attempted to use some of my crappy harbor freight extractors(didn't trust them to to really reef on them) but ran out of time. Tried using a punch to break the remainder of the bolt out but now one of the welds on the nut broke and the nut started to bend up into the framerail.

Edit: ^the nut is "bent" a bit higher so it casts a shadow. Here's what the drilled out non-broken one looks like:

how do you install the transfer case shifter bezel without breaking the plastic? do i have to remove the shifter handle?

the handle is too wide for the bezel to fit so I can't install a new bezel i got. the old one had a crack at the bottom and was all filmsy. it wasn't a problem to get off but now i'm wondering how to install the new one without breaking it.

It flexes enough to squeeze through.

The issues with that head are very well covered here and elsewhere ..$1,695.00 is the advertised price on a crate motor (I've got one ..works great)..I certainly didn't mean to get you going Clown...Here in the Mtns it is not unusual to see extended, stretched, highly modified Wranglers and XJs everyday..of course they are Beasts..We run hard here..I have 2 other 4x4s for getting groceries..I'm on my third axle swap as the poor little stock axle won't hold up to the trails here..looking for that elusive late 80s Chevy 1 ton..I didn't mean to give the impression that I was "jacking" the thread at all just giving an honest answer to an issue..It doesn't take a "TV" shop to modify an XJ...kids around here do it all the time in their front yard..It does take "Talent & Knowledge" which is abundant in N.Ga. Your advice to these folks is invaluable and congrats on your 20,000+ posts..Ya'll keep riding and keep the wheels pointed down...

it's also probably the reason why my original one was broken where the plastic is really thin.

Default Jeep XJ Blower Motor Problems

Hey everyone,

I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee and having a problem with the blower motor (I think) I turn on either the heat or A/C and nothing happens. If I leave the heater on for a while the vents start to get warm but there Is no air being pushed out of the vents. Any suggestions?

Bad blower motor, bad switch in the AC/Heater controls. Some might say bad blower motor resistor but usually if that happens it will work on full blast but no other setting.

Here's the full wiring diagram: http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/Wd/DownloadPdf?id=16386

Check to see if the blower switch is sending power out, then see if the relay is working, then see if power is getting to the blower fan itself. If power is making it to the blower motor, you've probably got a bad blower motor.

Can any one tell me anything from looking at this photo? Wife just bought this for me and I cant get to it for another month. New to XJ's and just trying to research what I have. All I know is: 1995, 4.0L, Auto. The interior apparently has some wood grain pieces and the seats are leather/vinyl sides with cloth inserts. Just wondering what the wizards out there can pick from this photo, ie. trim level, likely axle set-ups, really anything will help. Thanks for the help.

Ask your wife for the vin number then request a build sheet.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/build-sheet-44393/

Lots of good info as long as it mostly stock.

Found a guy selling this Dana 44 rear axle from a 1990 Jeep Comanche. It has 3.54 gears with a LSD. Comes with XJ spring perches but no brakes. He says $50 extra for the Explorer backing plates and hardware. How hard is installing the brakes? Anyone have a link for what is needed? I don't need anything fancy. Drums are fine. My XJ is an 01 with a C8.25 out of a IIRC 97 XJ.

Oh got ya. I can only tell it's european and it looks pretty nice from the picture. I'm sure someone could hint on what it might have.

Today my 96 cherokee started a cranks no start issue. I got home from school today and pulled my jeep around to work on it this weekend. After I moved it I put gas in it because it was starting to get low. After I was done putting 4 gallons of 2 day old premium in it, it would not start. I poured a little gas down the intake and got it to bust off. when I did this it pushed out a little smoke and it was running really rough. I let it idle a minute and it began to clear up. So when I went to move it after it had been running it died. I went to start it up again and it would not start. I did notice that when I put my foot in the gas and held it there it would start up. my dad said it may have jumped time. But I think it may be a fuel injection issue because when I put my foot in it, it starts. so here are the symptoms- it starts when foot is in the gas, seems to run worse when on a side hill, when you turn the engine over you can hear what i believe to be the piston making a sound similar to a fancy door bell, smells like really old gas when it does start and turning it over, smokes after start up and after I turn it off and the oil smells like gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. also it has a 4.0 in it and it has 276,000 miles.

I have a 44 under mine after blowing 3 axles..works good!!. All though now I'm lunching ft.ends as fast as I change them, so I really haven't pulled it to the max yet. So far no issues..there is a good disc conversion thread on this forum, that should help you work all the brakes out...Please remember the Jeep XJs you see on utube climbing ridiculous rocks are mostly running 1 ton Dana's at least..and as someone will likely answer to this..building an XJ to these specs makes the driveability quite harsh..but it sure is.fun!!
