Pulled my front driveshaft for a rebuild. I made index marks at the transfer case side, but did not on the axle side. How screwed am I? How critical are the index marks? I'm trying to chase down a high frequency vibration at 60+ mph

I recall seeing a car forum a few years ago that had a section where people could organize vehicle transportation with folks who were already planning to drive. Some of them daisy-chained a few legs to get across the country for a couple hundred dollars. I don't know which forum it was or if you'd be interested, but maybe someone here knows what I'm talking about?

I've never made index marks and I've never had vibe problems. I wouldn't worry about it.

You know the TC orientation, so you have a 50/50 shot now. If the DS is balanced, I don't think it will matter. If you do get vibes, spin the front axle yoke 180 degrees and reinstall.

^ that

As long as your driveshaft is balanced you're fine. Need more info on your setup, have you changed anything else? Did you not seat the the caps on the u-joints all the way?

in canada we have icons instead of BRAKE, FULL TIME and LOW WASHER, not sure about MAINT REQD and SECURITY, never seen them appear on my jeep.
Thanks for the reply!

I know NP242, I think Maint Req, and Security had a piece of tape over the inside..

Hey, Would you post a picture of your, or A Canadian one? plz :-)

Maybe another indicator e.g. rear proximity, or headlights On
Yes, they are different by years. The RENIX Jeeps panel will be different from the OBDI 4.0 HO.

What you're looking at there is (from top left):

Parking brake / brake pedal max indicator
Security system (obvious)
Full Time / Part time was for systems with the NP 242 tc
Maint Reqd is linked to a maintenance interval timer.... take the bulb out. Dealerships don't even know how to make the light go out anymore.
Seatbelt warning lamp
Check Engine Light (self explanatory)
Low washer fluid
Shift up (manual trans only) - this is for optimal fuel economy and redline protection
ABS system needs work

I'm trying to figure out if piecing together a lift kit from metalcloak is cheaper then buying the full from them. The last thing I'm looking for is the bushings for the rear leafs, now I've been having a little trouble finding OME bushings.

Does anyone have suggestions on what bushings I should get aside from the OME?

Just installed my ZJ disc brakes.

Question about the parking shoes - how much should they drag when I turn the rotor? It feels like there is a high-spot on one side, will that even out, or should I back off the star adjusters till there is zero drag?

Also, stupid question but ZJ wheel studs will use the same thread pitch as XJ lug nuts, correct? I tried to test thread one or two on but they wouldnt really bite. This was before I put the cross-pin in and my axles were pushing in and out so I didn't really try too hard. Hopefully I can use my current lug-nuts so I don't have to bike to Autozone

Yes, as close to zero drag as you can get. I wouldn't worry about a TINY bit of rubbing. You will need to mess with the adjuster/equalizer anyway to get proper handle pull.
