Yep the axles from the '98 will bolt right up to your '95. An automatic '98 with the 4.0 is most likely 3.55 gears. For a stick shift they're great gears that allow you to maintain near stock ratios at 31" and 32" tires.

I *think* 4.56 was found in late model 4 cyl automatics. You can run 33s on 3.55 sure but it will be a little sluggish compared to stock, though you might see an improvement in fuel economy on highway runs.

A lot of people have - swap out the housings and upgrade the wiring harness. Quite a few threads on here.

And truckers will pass you going uphill on the highway. Ask how I know...

I am in desperate need of help. 1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. 4.0 L 4x2. Trouble starting. sometimes turn key and get nothing at all, just silence, but all lights on dash come on. First time mechanic put in new crankshaft position sensor. Also new plugs, ignition wires, rotor, distributor cap, (+) &(-) battery cables. Worked great for 3-4 weeks, then started to get harder to start again. Went back, replaced starter and relay. Again worked great for a few weeks and now can't start again. I would drive it off a cliff, with me in it, but I can't get it started. How can you replace stuff, have it work, and then it gradually goes back to the original problem? I am totally baffled. If anyone has any suggestions before I go back to mechanic, or go insane, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike R.

Stop throwing money/parts at it. The problem still exists because you didn't fix the problem. The crank sensor, distributor components, and plugs/wires all have no impact on whether the vehicle tries to turn over or not. The problem is in your STARTING system, not the ignition system.

Is it clicking at all when you turn the key? Do the dash lights dim? Headlights dim?

Step 1 - get the battery LOAD TESTED at your local parts store. Checking the voltage is not enough.

Step 2 - check all the fuses - both underhood and inside the cab. Also try swapping relays around to see if you have a bad one (swap the A/C or aux fan or other non-vital relay with the starting system relays)

Step 3 - follow the rest of my writeup here:

What's the best way to remove the bolt for the sway bar links on the axle? Like the torx bolt I think it is.

Vice grips on the torques and 18mm on the nut

When i was replacing the bent link on mine, i used a vice clamp and wedged it on the axle. Then went at the nut with a can of PB buster and a socket wrench using my jack handle as a cheater bar.

It's a splined bolt - the torx head is just there for show lol.

You need to press it out with a pitman arm puller or similar tool.

I found a hammer and a block of wood worked wonders
