Default XJ 4.5 rough country lift

I was looking at the RC 4.5 inch lift and was wondering your opinion on it. I would purchase the lift with the nitro 9000 shock upgrade as well as the steering stabilizer for 555 bucks. I dont really care about how the Jeep handles or how smooth it rides as long as the lift gets the job done. With that in mind would the RC lift be okay for me? And what are some other cons about the lift? And any other lifts reccommended for a cheaper price? Thanks

For a still "decent" kit the RC is the way to go if you are on a budget. However forget the brakeline relocation/Tracbar relocation brackets, they are junk.

I agree with kyle I love mine its a very nice ride. hopfully I get to wheel it soon. he is right abou the brake line relocating brackets they suck. the rears are the worst. you really have to do a lot of bad things to your hard lines.

As for the track bar relocate they just had me drill a new hole. so it isn't any lower and it seems to put thing were they belong.

^^Did you need new brake lines with this kit?

I had to drill the same hole on my TJ with my BDS lift kit...

I would do the full pack RC kit if your gonna do it...

With the relocation bracket they provide you technically you dont, but I would forget about the bracket and go with some stock YJ lines or a braided RE hard line.

But if your installing the lift, you'd be safe without new lines or no?

In the rear you will need new lines. In the front you can relocate and that will work for a poser but when you flex it, they will be too short. Use YJ lines, they are cheap and they work well.

No...only 3 corners

I just did this last night. I picked up a yj rear line from 4wd hardware for $17. it's 3" longer than my stock one and bolted right in. The hardest part was wiping brake fluid off my arm pits. Being under the jeep with brake fluid running down your arm is not fun.

What the heck is the point of that bracket if the line can't even reach the hole? That bracket probably costs as much as a yj line.

You can also use a dakota rear line it's like 6 inches longer. I used a yj line.

Store it away in your memory banks for future use. That's what I'm doing. That is real good information.

BTW if you don't do something that new useless bracket will wear through the brake line and you will be brakeless. That is the way I see it in your photos.
