Default trany. worn out jeep, could use some help

hello. i have a 89 cherokee pioneer with the 4.0 and has 362xxx miles on it.

my question is, when i accelerate hard from a stop or accelerate from a stop going up a hill i get this...kinda grinding sound... now i use the word grind, not as gears grinding but like...(sand on a concrete floor and you slide you shoes across). and a slite vibration... when this happens it feels like the trany is slipping

appreciate any help thx

if thats the original tranny its probably starting to slip you can try adding some anti slip oil to the tranny lucas oils makes some good stuff

tranny work on these things isnt all that hard. as long as you have a jack and somehwere to work on it. When the tranny went out in my old cherokee, I picked up one with 60k on it for $250. it was my first time doing tranny work. took roughly 4-5 hours to remove the old one and put in the new. 2 people working on it. the next day we put fluid in it, put the crossmember back on, and rebolted up the exhaust. just saying, it is do-able.
