WJ rear diff in an XJ ?
I still have this problem in my rear diff. I thought an oil and modifier change had sorted it but it hasn't.This is my post.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/hel...-noise-131503/ Anyway due to my location another diff is hard to find but one from a 2003 Grand Cherokee (WJ) has come up on that auction site only 30 miles from me. I can see it has coil springs and loads of other braces mine doesn't have but once stripped could this axle fit in my 2000 XJ. I noticed it had disc brakes too! |
It could be made to fit... Anything could be made to fit.
Technically, you'd need to cut all of those brackets off and weld new spring perches on. The bolt pattern is going to be wrong so you'll need different wheels or adapters. Honestly, I'd hold off and wait for another closer match. By the time you bought that axle and made it work you could have paid me to ship you the axle that will work. |
Thanks for the reply, I see what you mean, there would be too much work.
I will keep looking for another one or try to get this one fixed. |
Do the Explorer 8.8 swap if you can find one.

Don't mean to hijack this, but what year Exploder diff would work on a 1990 XJ?
