wiring short killed engine

My 1985 pioneer. Just stoped running. After examining engine found FRIED fuseable link off of the starter cylinoid. Can't find any wire touching metal. Anyone have any idea's?

You will need a wiring diagram, a meter, and the ability to use both to find the short.

Fusable links do that especially when they are that old. Just replace it and see what happens.

replaced fusable link, and as soon as I turned key to start, it fried just like the first. I'm thinking it has to be in ignition somewhere, but caan't seem to find a wire grounded out.
