By lose do you mean it won't let go or it won't grab?

This is the third clutch question today... They've all had the same answer.

You're either low on fluid, have air in the lines or a leaking slave/master cylinder.

Your Jeep is a 96?

As lowrange2 said, Check your Clutch Fluid Resevoir. It is on the far driver side firewall and it says CLUTCH on it, make sure it is full. If it's low, top it off with fresh Dot 3 Brake Fluid.

I know when my Clutch Slave Cylinder failed, my clutch would engage literally on the floor. If I sat in gear for any amount of time, it'd grab on it's own and pull you forward, or backwards if in reverse. If I rested my foot on the pedal, it sank to the floor. It shifted VERY hard and you had to be HULK to pull the shift from 1st to 2nd. I even double clutched for awhile, well...I guess you can call it that. Didn't do very well double clutching...ROFL.

You have a 96 so it's an External CSC so it isn't difficult to replace.

Save time & money and do not buy a pre-bled system. Just speaking from experience. Spent $231 and it was defective from the day I bought it. Spend the time and bleed it yourself.

Just my little input.
