Wire harness plug ???
I have a dumb question, but need help? Recently purchased a 2000 XJ. Needed to replace header panel. While I was removing it it found out the RH side headlight harness had been spliced by a 2 yr old !!! Bare wire ends twisted with vinyl tape !
Now for the Dumb question. I plan on replacing the headlight harness which has a plug on LH side behind headlight.
It has a Red tab that looks like a lock? For some unknown reason I can NOT unplug it
Is there a secret ?
Maybe someone out there could help me ?...

Yes, the red bit slides to the side (perpendicular to the wiring) then the coupler ends should come apart reasonably easily, mine got stuck in the unlocked position, last straw for the putco harness upgrade. You can use a screw driver against the red tab just make sure you have something on the opposite side (finger) to prevent breakage. You may have to push the two ends (connectors) together to relieve pressure on the red lock before it will slide easily.
