Wiper Motor Problem 88 Cherokee

I have an 88 Cherokee. its my baby. 490,000 miles (no that's not a typo)

The wipers stopped working. I pulled the plug and there is power getting to the assembly 11 volts and 14 volts (roughly)

this power is there whether the switch is on or off.

they simply don't work any longer. I was going to try and jump the motor and see if it works to try and determine if its the motor or the switch. I can not figure out how to test this.

It seems the motor ALWAYS gets power and the switch simply sends a signal to the motor "turn on or off" so I can just run power to 2 contacts. I need to "trigger" the switch. I have no idea how to do this. there are 5 wires.

Suggestions? also how in the world do I get the stinking thing out? I can not figure out how to REMOVE the motor so I can try testing it (some of the wires on inaccessible on the bottom) and or replace it.

Lost my repair book probably gonna have to go get another one. (and of course I will find it the moment I come home with the new one :-) hehehe

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your grounds.

which one? ie where is the ground for the wipers? also would not being bolted to the frame BE grounded? (I was always curious about that :-)
