Windshield leak
Hey guys, question....how much do you reckon it will run to have the windshield removed, a new gasket installed, and the shield replaced. The glass is apparently perfect, but I have a leak directly above the rearview mirror. I have a feeling the remove and reinstall will take care of it...what do you think and how much do you reckon it will cost? Thanks.

you likely have a huge rust hole in the frame seal. you will likely have to have it repaired once the windshield is out.
you can either have it all done at a body shop where the windshield guy will remove on site and return later to reinstall it.
or you can have the mobile windshield guy come to your place and just tape off the hole if it's not that bad, then use extra sealant to lay the windshield back on, then once the molding is back on, he can seal above and below the molding to keep any more water out.
mine was leaking for a couple years, then i had the windshield replaced and that's what he did to mine.
a windshield replacement here runs 200 taxes in (13%), so i tossed him another 40 to cover his time and sealant.
no leak, and even tho he said it's temporary, i think it'll last much longer than he thinks.
so, just a remove and replace should run about 60 to 80 here. not sure what your labour rates are down there...

^^^ that's pretty close. I worked at a body shop for awhile and since my windshield leaks aswell, I asked the guy that did ours and he said for a removal and re-install usually runs around $75-100. The previous owner of mine replaced it himself and truthfully did a decent job, I just have one tiny leak right in front of my face. Only leaks on real heavy rain. Just bought some 3M sealer to try and remedy it on my own.

Same problem here, just to the right side of drivers visor. I tried using some 3M stuff, leaks still there. Gonna try again and spend more time on cleaning first.
