Default window switch

I have a 99 xj and all the windows work from the main switch but do not work from their own switch. And the window lock is off. Wondering if it might be a relay or a fuse. Didnt look into it yet, figured id throw it out on here and get some good feedback. Any help would be much appreciated.

i had this happen on my 89 and at the time it drove me nuts trying to figure it out but eventually cost me $300 at a electrical specialist and the cause was a broken wire in the harness that runs under the carpet.......usually takes a beating seeing as thats where your feet go, good call for the designers of the XJ, top notch routing guys.

problem is there are a **** load of wires in the harness......have fun and good luck, get out the multimeter and start checking grounds, continuity and voltages and again good luck.

There is a white plug behing the left kick panel just at the edge of the carpet. You need to jump the two wires coming out of the top of the plug. Do a search here and you can find pics of the plug. This topic comes up about once a week here.

If you don't find a problem in the harness mentioned above, you might also check the front passenger doors' innards My daughters '02 GC had a connector unconnect itself in there, and her locks, windows only worked from the drivers controls. Her remote wouldn't unlock the pass side either. Just a thought.

It's likely the child lock switch. Fix it right...

Jump the yellow and tan wires. Do not use a paperclip! Use wire taps.
