Will a high output motor work in an 85 Che??

Hey there, so this is my first time on this forum so here it goes. Yesterday I rolled my 94 cherokee and totaled it. I've got a brand new engine and everything else works as well so I'm just gonna get another Cherokee and move all the parts over to that.
My question is, what will I have to do electronically if I get a pre-91 Cherokee with a low output and put my high output in it? Also I have a NP242 with the full time 4wd and an SYE so I wanna keep my t-case as well. Also, will there be alot of Wires I will have to transfer if I get a 5-speed and put my engine, trany and t-case in it?? I also know that the low outputs have more sensors like the knock sensor and such so will that be a problem?

there's 2 pre-91 6 cylinder XJs...84-86 use the GM V6 (2.8L i think) and 87-90 are the Renix 4.0L.
you'll have to do a lot of work swapping, including physical clearancing of the fireqall to fit a 4.0L in 84-86 XJ.

Ok well that eliminates me looking for a pre-87. But what about the 90-87? Will a high output work on the 87-90 Cherokee? Also is the wiring alot different in a manual and an automatic?
