Default Will Diffs off a 95 yj fit my 97 cherokee

I have a 1997 cherokee and my rear 8.25 diff is shot..

Wondering what the 95 yj had for diffs and if they would fit my cherokee????

What mods would Have to be done if any?

Thanks for the input..

It would be a D35 or maybe a D44, not sure about the 44 if YJs had them. I'd go to the junkyard and pull a new 8.25 from an XJ since it will for sure bolt up.

It will but it will most likely be the wrong gear ratio. 4.0 autos came with 3.55 gears, manuals had 3.07s, 2.5 autos have 4.10s and manuals pretty sure have 3.73s.

So I would have to swap both front and rear diffs then?

If you plan to lift, I would just because the lower gear ratio will help turn oversize tires.
