Will bigger tires help my drive line?
I just finished my lift. 3.5" RE, did a t-case drop of 1" but really the spacers are only 3/4th (the package said 1 ") and running 235 wheels which = about a 29".
I test drove and got it aligned and it has a pretty good drive line vib to it. I want to run 31" tiers but dont have the cash right now. So my Q's are will the bigger tires do the trick and end the vib? how far can i drop the t-case?..add some washers to equal 1" or go to 1.5" ? how long can i drive with the vib before it hurts anything? what will it hurt? thanks! |

No bigger tires will not end driveline vib. I wouldnt drop the t-case more they you have already. 1 to 1.5 is the max. As it is a t-case drop is going to kill your motor mounts over time. You probably need a sye if you have a 1" drop and you still have vibes. Shims may help but I doubt it.

I think that it will help, but like they said you will prob need more. The tires will only help a slight amount, so not worth getting crappy tires/ ones you don't want, just to not get far on the vibes

Yeah your right ^ . after thinking about it there is no way that would help. the tires will raise the whole vehicle not the driveline. since the spacers i hace are only 3/4th of an inch im going to try to drop it more (about to 1 full inch). and yes i know that t-case drops are bad but its only for the time being until i can get a SYE i just dont have the $400 for one!
about the things il hurt running with vibs? u-joints? tranny? t-case? you will hurt where the driveline goes into the TC because of vibes, you will destroy ujoints, the vibes will also shack some things loose, and the tc drop will destroy motor mounts |

I would lower the tc case a little more and add a 3* shim to the axle. Put some miles/wheel it let it settle.

A 3.5" lift should not need a sye. Currently stated the tc drop in only 3/4" he should be able to add 1/4" and be ok. After it settles he could take out the extra 1/4".

Actually a 3.5" lift will sometimes need a SYE, especially with 96+ XJs that have the different T-case output. I've seen XJs with only 2" lift that still had vibes after a T-case drop. The RE 3.5" kits commonly lift the jeep more than 3.5" also. Most get 4-4.5" out of their kits. No matter the lift, if you put in a T-case drop and it doesn't fix it, that means you need a SYE or have other driveline issues to address. |
Tires wtf ,Drop it more that s just stupid. You guys are suppose to give the person an answer that is close to being right The guy has a 2000 xj ,97+ xjs are prone to driveline vibs at about 3 to 3.5 inch lifts +, he needs an SYE PERIOD ,if you dont know than way waste his money go waste yours.Sorry if you dont like this answer.:bs:
