Default wierd issue

ok so when i first start my cherokee it revs pretty high as soon as it startes and holds it there for a few seconds. and yesterday it did it and as soon as the rpms went down i put it in gear and it died. i started it back up and all was good. im confused as to what is wrong. i have 4.0 aw4 combo by the way.

I'd say take out the idle air control (IAC) and clean it up, free and will take all of 5 minutes. If that doesn't solve it, focus on the throttle positioning sensor. Those would be my 2 first votes.
