Default Why is my starter acting weird!?!

hey guys, new to the fourms!! i've been reading thru a bunch of posts w/ the starter problem / it won't start yatta yatta.. i've recently came across a problem that it will not turn over AT ALL.. and im wondering if i were to change the starter relay, it will solve the problem? help!!!

First off welcome, second Yr/engine/trans/drivetrain will help a lot, as the are sometime year specific issues/solutions. Without knowing anything, and taking a wild guess Neutral Safety Switch is a possible culprit. Search NSS.

tried it , it starts in neutral , but it ****s out on me sometimes

Then it's most likely your neutral safety switch take it off clean it put some di-electric grease on it and put it back on there are several write ups on it the switch itself is quite pricy

No problem welcome to the forum if your rebuild doesn't work I have a thread on a way to get around replacing it I tried to rebuild mine and couldn't get it to work

you know ive had my jeep for a year and a half with no reverse lights and i never even thought to do this

Mine's OK when I park it hot. Starts fine in the AM. If I move it cold, sometimes I've got to "jiggle and fiddle" with it. Maybe I'll get to that after I clean up my grounds.

mine was so bad one day i just gave up and started it with a screwdriver on the starter
