why does my windshield fog up
2001 cherokee sport
interior of windshield is fogging up mostly in the early am hours after driving 2-3 miles,
turn on defroster only makes it worse,
in the afternoon driving when warmer a lite mist on windshield

Heater core is slightly leaking. Get it fixed before it pops.

It could also just be the time of year. Not sure where OP is from, but it is humid here and every night my windshield fogs up driving home. I am regularly adjusting the temp, and position of the air to minimize the fogging up of the windshield.
The OP is gonna need to come back with some useful information if he is looking for actual help and not just shot in the dark solutions.

I had a problem with my WJ with the windshield fogging up just on the passenger's side corner and it felt slippery and smeared when you wiped it. THAT's antifreeze. Pretty soon the carpet was wet with the stuff. I waited too long.

Truth be told, it was a pretty bad example of a post. His first post, so I'm guessing he put his question up here, on every jeep forum, tech group, and online dating website he could find. He probably forgot about us here at the lowly cherokeeforum.

Tell you what! I've been to those other sites and I'll stick with this one. You guys know your stuff and are (for the most part) honest. I also like the way you joke around, once you get to know the drill. It took me a while to realize when I was being messed with, but hey, what are friends for? I also like the way you weed out the trolls because they don't hang around long. I've been working on automotive stuff since 1962 and admittedly some of my knowledge is dated, but sometimes it's the simple stuff that gets overlooked.
For instance, my wife's friend had a Ford Escort with a blown heater core and asked me to fix it. I told her what had to be done and she said can't I just put some stop-leak in it. I said okay, but it may only work for a short time. Anyhow, it was very cold out and I ran that engine at a high idle for over an hour with all the doors open, fogging up the neighborhood, until it stopped blowing steam. It stopped the leak, but she didn't get much heat out of it. She sold the car in the spring.
