whining power steering
there is a oil wizard in my town that is advertiseing that they can take the whine out ouf your power steering. is there a way to do that other than adding power steering fluid, or are they just trying to make a quick buck.
if they can do it how do i do it cuz mine is whining and it full of psf |
Get a bottle of Lucas p/s stop leak and suck the old p/s fluid out and dump the lucas in.
It usually works almost after 2 minutes of driving to quiet down a whining pump. I've used it on my noisy pump a couple years ago and had no issues since then. |
wow sounds like a real simple fix. how do i got about sucking out the old psf

You use like a turkey Baster thing

I used rags to soak it all out when I had nothing the suck it out.

I give a +1 to Lucas P/S. I recently messed with my RX7 and revved her to about 8250, then blew a seal out in the power steering pump, so i put some Lucas in and it got very light and never leaked again. The stuff works wonders.

but moms turky baster is free haha

Yes but there is already tryptophan in the bird on Thanksgiving, you don't need power steering additive as well.

My jeep whined very little when I bought it. enough to bother me though. Lucky me I work at Toyota and can use a power steering flush machine. worked great. Whine is gone. I think all you need is new fluid.

well turns out its not my fluid my power steering had a leak in it. it was in the resevwar(spelt way wrong) amd it was sucking air into it and pushing it through the lines making the noise. Went to auto zone and it was gonna cost me 75 bucks cuz i would have to buy the whole pump and everything. soooooo..... i just bought some apoxy and just gooped it on real good and its good as new ;)

Where was it sucking in air from as mine has the same problem?
Thanks Ed |
