bad bearings. bad oil pump, could be a few things
temp climb when the pressure drops?
You may also want to check the oil pressure sending unit (sensor right by the oil filter, screws in) as I've heard of them failing and giving bad readings.

The strategy for low oil pressure readings is always the same. VERIFY.
Good data = good decisions.
Get a mechanical oil pressure gauge (can be rented from many big box parts stores) and temporarily install it where the oil pressure sending unit resides.
Then you'll really know. Could be minor, could be an internal engine problem. You need to know. You aren't using any coolant are you??

i hope hes using coolant, otherwise he'll overheat lol
nah mine did the same thing with the oil pressure dropping to zero, turned out to be the sending unit, easy fix
i know several other ppl have had the same issue...might not hurt to do an oil change and check the oil just to be safe, or at least check the dipstick for milky goodness

The coolant question was if he had to "add" any coolant to the reservoir, but I expect you realized that is what I meant......
The reason being is the 00-01 has the infamous 0331 cylinder head. And the #1 symptom of a cracked 0331 is "unexplained coolant loss".
