wheels cambered???

ok i very good with jeeps but i can not figure this one out
2000 cherokee 5" lift by rcx my front wheels are off camber very noticably
what can fix/or be the problem?
wheel bearings new....no play in ball joints that i can feel by moving wheel with hand
have tried multiple tire n rim combos still same...top tucked in....bottom pushed out??
could it be bent axle ends? something else bent? any help or ideas would be great
figured id throw it out here before i put another axle in

did you buy it with the lift or did you install any pics

my guess is that either your Cs are bent or the housing is bend

have you measure your toe?

alot of times i have seen this was because of a toe in condition. (gives the illusion of camber probs)

grab a tape and go measure from inside pass tire to inside driver tire at the front of the wheels and then do the same in the back of the wheels.

you should be at around 1/8 inch difference, toe-in. (1/8 inch shorter distance in the front.) if not i would go have it aligned.

if it is around 1/8 toe-in the you may have bent c's or tubes. the do sell offset ball-joints at napa....only up to 2 degrees if i remember correctly.

hope that helps and made sence!!!!

Thank you all. Yes I have measured my toe n all I'm within an 1/8 of an inche. My ball joints have no play as per moving wheel while elevated. I have measured my C's they are measurment wise the same as 2 other jeeps. Angle finded them they are within a degree of all others axle tube is laser level with each end. I am goin to change balljoints just to be safe but I have tried all I know. Thank you again.

a lot of work to replace good balljoints?

if you still have the factory inverted y steering it will cause a off camber look like mine had before upgrading steering

Aoneisdone Feb 6, 2011 10:39 PM

yes alot of work indeed but still easier than re-pumping another axle and putting in i put the lift in but even before my 5 inch when i had 3 it looked the same i do have pic i will post in past i have jumped many cherokees n never bent a tube or a c
i do still have original steering which i was thinking may cause this problem but i ruled it out figuring it doesnt control camber
with offset balljoints i am not sure on what degree or how to find the correct degree i may need if indeed that is the problem

Very true, seen it more than a few times.

Check your pinion angle. If it's to high/low you could have a camber issue. Check your upper control arms for the correct length, adjust them as needed (if you can)!
Also, don't go over the 1/8" of toe in, if you can...get closer to 1/16".
