temp guage not working after cluster removal
Just replaced all the bulbs in my cluster. Everything worked perfectly fine before. Reinstalled, everything works except the coolant temp guage, it just sits at 0. Did I miss something? It's a fairly dim witted cluster in terms of the electrics in it. My old BMW has grounding screws that if loose, cause the guage to not work. Is there a ground screw, a plug or anything else I could have missed?
Thanks

Bump, anyone!
Took the cluster back out and tighten all the contact screws on the back and double checked the main harness was tight.

Ok. I can only help with 97+, but honestly try unplugging and replugging the temp sensor. Did you screw with the needle? If you did make sure the needle is still correctly in the socket.

Come to think of it I did wipe everything off and may have bumped the needle. I'll pull the clear cover off and try to make sure the needle is on there. Otherwise, I may find another cluster or go aftermarket. Even with the beefed up cooling system on mine I still find it unnerving not knowing my water temp. Thanks for the tips.

I'd take it back out and clean the connection on the back with some good electric contact cleaner. I had this happen on my '91 after putting in some LED's except with the tach and after I cleaned up the connection on the back of went back to working.
