wheel bearing and rotor, can I go from 1st to 2nd gen?

Hey guys. I just got a 98 cherokee sport. Im going to be dong the front wheel bearings. When I ordered the parts I had been told the jeep was a 99, not a 98, and I got the wheel bearings which have longer studs and are intended for the full cast rotors.

My question is if I swap the rotors to match the wheel bearings will my rotors line up properly with the calipers? The rotors need to be replaced anyway so its not big deal to buy new ones.

The knuckles are the same for both years and so are the calipers. To me that says Ill be fine if I swap the rotors to match. Can anyone confirm this?

nope. i believe you would need to swap the knuckles too, since that's what the caliper bolts up to. but i've never tried to go that far. i have both era of jeeps so when i received the incorrect hub, i just kept it and reordered the correct one for my 99.

I'm pretty sure the knuckles are the same part, at least for 1990-2001. If that's the case, the correct combination of unit bearing & rotor should center the rotor correctly in the brake caliper.

I could be wrong, but that's what the parts houses I just checked say...

According to Rockauto atleast, the knuckles are the same from 90-01. Here is the difference in the hubs.
