Default Wheel bearing HELP?!!

recently ive started hearing a squeaking coming from my driver front wheel area. its a rotational noise that stops when breaking and doesnt happen when first driving... i think its a bad wheel bearing but have heard theyre expensive to replace and would rather not if its not that... any ideas?

check your brake pads.

check the wheel bearing for play by grabbing the wheel at 12 and 6 and shaking it. If it wobbles even slightly, you probably need a new one. $100 each for timkens.

You do not need a press. It is a hub design.

This.

You need a big *** socket and breaker bar to get the axle nut off. And a 12pt 13mm or something to get the wheel bearing off. It's pretty easy.

The big socket is a 34 or 36 mm socket (I think).

36 mm for the big socket is correct, changing the hubs/wheel bearing assemblies is a 30 minute job.

Check for play in your u joints on you axle shafts and drive shafts, they squeek alot when they go bad.

What mr white said.. maybe it's just your brake pad 'squeakers'.. if there's no play in the bearing.

I had the same problem. Turns out the abs sensor was rubbing the gear. It's worth a look
