Default What's the load capacity of an XJ?

I recently added Crown HD springs, and trying to find info on them, but thought someone here might have an answer. I'm trying to find out if I can get a 318 longblock back there for a 250 mile trip...

Default Engine No Problem

Should not be a problem weight wise. Just make sure that it is strapped down to something solid (like the bumper mounts) so that if you have to stop fast you don't end up crushed between the engine and the steering wheel.

I have loaded my Jeep with people and gear and hooked a 3000# sailboat with a 400# tounge weight and had no problems.

enough to hold one fat chick... but not two... youll be fine with that motor back there... it rides 5 people... 200 pounds each... do the math... heck 150 each do the math... unless you riding 5 200 pounders and the motor... then youll be on bumpstops... lol...

The XJ is a light half ton pickup in the rear, same underpinnings as the Comanche. Rock that V8 block.

Alrighty, thanks guys!

I'll be carrying the longblock, and possibly a folded up stand, and depending on when my wife and daughter get home possibly a petite little lady, and 1 year old cutie who probably weigh 135lbs together...

I would rather just take my truck, but one of the front u-joints is shot...

Just a follow up...

I picked up my 318 this weekend, and drove home the 250 or so miles. Out of curiosity I measured before and after. The Jeep dropped 1.25" with the engine and stand in the back... Handled great all the way home. I was very pleased with the Jeep this weekend!
