Probably bad wires. I know my '00 had a bad wire in the drivers door. Had to rewire it myself.

My 99 had seriously fried wires front passenger and blown speaker drivers front, made the stereo act crazy, I had new speakers installed all around with fresh wiring, works like new.

here is how to fix it

remove the radio
put it under your front tire
place the jeep in drive
AND RUN THAT ***** OVER!!!!

problem solved. if the radio gets an error, it is probably the radio head unit itself, time for an upgrade
