Default Whats the BEST Oil?

Mornin' Fellas,

Firestone lost their account with me, time to get greasy, and change my oil. Advance Auto told me to get 10w-40 because of mileage and age (that's what they have in the system for over 150,000). Even though I always get 10w-30.

What's the best oil to buy? How's Mobil?

Thanks.

P.S. Any extra oil change tips?

Mobil 1 makes a very good product. Good additive package and can be found for a good price at walmart. 10-30 or 10-40 will be fine. Use a quality filter such as wix or even the mobil 1 and you will be fine. The Rotella oils made by shell are good as well.

I use 5W30 in the cold cold part of winter (40 degree and lower) and 10W30 in the summer. Clocked at 233,000 miles in the WJ. Inline 6. No issues. I also change at 5,000 miles.

Xj only has 80-90K on the engine. I do the same for it.

Use Fram filter if you want to end your jeeps life early...

I use pur or mopar oil filters now

There is not enough of a difference to lose sleep over. I shop by value and use Walmart SuperTech 15-40 industrial/fleet/diesel for my tired 4.0. but that is a personal choice.

Here we go again.

10W30 year round for your climate.

Walmart SuperTech conventional. Mobil 1 10W30 full synthetic. Buy either at Walmart.

Wix or Napa gold filter. Same thing. You can get a Mopar filter for some Jeeps at Walmart. Some people use a FL1-A Motorcraft, but I don't have personal experience with them. So I won't tell you to use it.

Oil change interval 3500-5000 conventional, 8000 synthetic.

Don't waste your time & money on synthetic "blend" or "high mileage" oils.

I will get 10w-30. I've been changing the oil every 3,000 miles. I didn't know I could wait that long! I also didn't know I could use full synthetic. Why not "high mileage" oils?

What about Mobil Super, does that comparable to the rest? It's on sale at AA $16.99 a gallon with the oil filter.

Rotella T5 or T6 with a WIX filter. Don't look back.

FWIW, this subject has been beaten to death. Here's a link to arguably the best oil thread on this site:

Caster Bean oil at 28:1 mix ratio.

Oh wait wrong forum, haha.

Hope you have time to read all that thread, lol The Wix 51515 filter is half again as big as the filter my son had on, didn't notice brand.

Which religion is best? Same question.

I read the thread about oil. It's very good. But I did not see mention of the Walmart Supertech Full-Synthetic, which is what I typically use. Did I miss it? Is there any information online about that particular oil?

Do they make a synthetic blend or high mileage peanut oil?

On a slightly more serious note...... Just go buy your oil and filter and be done with it. Now..... This is very important..... DO NOT SCREW UP AND BREAK OFF YOUR OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT WHEN YOU TRY TO REMOVE YOUR OIL FILTER!!!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!!
