What is this ? i cant find the plug for it..

It is right under the glove box on dash thing...on passanger side

 

That is the trans control unit for an auto trans. Since you have a manual, I must assume that a previous owner has changed either the lower part of the dash or the whole darn thing.

 

well heck... im guessing i need to do more investigating... im trying to find out why my upper consol isnt working...compas and what ever eles it does...the lights work on the thing... so its geting power fed threw harness.. hummm

 

If a po changed parts of the dash then there is no telling what they hacked up with the wiring. I know my 91 has parts from multiple years of XJs and other vehicles as well. It all started with a bone stock dream and there is no end in sight to the mutilation.

you should have seen all the cut off wires under my dash when I did my stereo,it had an alarm,amp leads,door switches,old cell phone antena

 

I have a 1990 and just changed the lower part of my dash and have that unit in place. I removed the dash unit out of a 1989.
