what are the symptoms
What's the symptoms if a pick up that's in the distributor going out.... really scratching my head on this one xj runs fine at idle and revs fine in park but when in gear the xj spita and sputters at me driving down the road

I mean you can unplug it an it will run. There's a thread here somewhere, can't find it right now. Just for fun unplug it and see if the condition improves.
