i have a 99 cherokee 4x4 sport with auto trans, im looking to re-gear but i cant figure out what my stock gears are and i dont have the id tag on the differential any more can any one help. ( i need my stock gears to figure out what my new gears should be. i want to put 35's on)

i think its 3.07? not sure with 35s youll prolly want 4.88s or 4.56s.....i could be wrong lol

Not 3.07's... he's got an auto tranny.... 3.07's only came on the manual trans cherokees so its prolly 3.55's...
if you have a chrysler 8.25 in the rear... then yes you have 3.55's if you have a Dana 35 in the rear then there is a possiblity that you have 3.73's or you could still have 3.55's

so go check your rear axle and find out which one you have... the 8.25 or the D35 and then you'll have your answer

Or, if you want to just figure it out... Jack the rear up enough to spin the tires, rotate the driveshaft exactly 1 revolution & count revolutions of the tire, viola.. that's your gear ratio

Most likely it is 3.55's with an auto in a '99.

send jeep customer service an email asking for a build sheet, this will tell you everything original to your jeep
