Default what size threads for compression tester

I bought a cheap harbor freight compression test kit the other day and it wont thread into the sparkplug holes on my 2000 jeep xj 4.0L. (just my luck) I'm going to buy an adaptor or another kit but want to make sure I get the right one. The gauge I bought has M 12 x 1.25 long reach, M 10 x 1.00 standard, and M 14 x 1.25 standard hoses. The M14 x 1.25 hose looks like it should fit but can't get it to thread in. If anyone has a compression test kit handy could you look and tell me what size hose/adapter fits the jeep 4.0L I would appreciate it. thanks

My guess is it's SAE, not metric.
