What is this sensor?

Sorry, no pic, but what is this 1 wire plug near the distributor, not into the distributor, but very near it. Looks like it plugs into the block, just to the rear of the distributor. Someone said they thought it was the cam sensor, but I can't find a cam sensor on Checker or Autozone's website.
