so im having trouble even coming up with a way to explain this. guess you could say it feels like its pulling to hard to the side when i steer. sorry i cant give too much information on it now but if you have any questions to help me explain it i can answer them tonight or tomorrow.
the only thing i can say is everyhting felt normal last week but after taking it in to have my rear brakes fixed (new drums, shoes, and springs) the steering just felt wrong. nothing seems out of the ordinary in the front everyhings tight good alignment. sorry i cant really explain the problem accurately. it just feels wrong and im looking for some ideas. its a 95 cherokee sport also thanks

Do the tires all have the same psi in em?

they were about the same last week when i checked them just plus or minus 1psi.

none of my friends get why i would check my tire prussere at 1:47. guess its a jeep thing. any way 30 or 31 all the way around

Does it pull all the time or does it pull when you are braking?

When your rear brakes were fixed, were the rear wheel cylinders replaced. I ask because if the brakes weren't bled properly this condition can happen.

Letting me know if it's pulling always or just when braking will allow me to give you more things you can check. The list would be really long for both.

the front brakes were never touched. i took it in for just rear brakes.

it feels like it is doing it all the time. not just during braking and the wheel cylinders were not replaced

X 2 on most likely one of your front calipers is dragging. If nothing has been done to them recently then they have the same amount of miles on them as your rears. You should have had new brakes done all the way around.

Now, this problem can come from a multitude of front end issues, also. Worn tierod ends, worn or broken tracbar pieces, worn balljoints, worn wheelbearing hub assembly on the side its pulling to. Heck, I bet worn lower control arm bushings could cause this too.

well actually the rear brakes were falling apart. broken springs cutting into the drums no brakes emergency brake had to be pulled all the way to hold any. the front brakes were replaced not too long ago. we just noticed the back brakes for inspection

Time to get under the front end of your jeep and start looking for nasty looking worn bushings, give tierod ends and good shake, pry gently between knuckles and axle Cs for bad balljoints. if you have an escessive amount of brake dust...more on one side than the other that would indicate a dragging caliper. I actually had one dragging for a long time on my XJ. Like you I couldnt tell what the problem was until it almost locked up on me after a panick brake stab on the freeway one day.

Is your XJ lifted? If so how much? Do you have a OEM or adjustable trac bar?

If you have a dragging caliper that corresponding wheel will get hot. After you feel the vehicle pulling, stop and feel (carefully) your wheels. I know from experience, twice.
