What is this part on my XJ?
I know how important it is to search on these forums. But I literally don't know where to start. This part looks obviously broken but I don't know how to reasearch it. It's located underneath the glovebox on my '99 4.0. Sorry for my ignorance.
BTW I stumbled upon this during my NSS replacement. Where everything works as it should but I can't keep the code P0705 from reappearing. And I've been through hell and back rearching every thread. I may end up posting a new technical question regarding my P0705 code in the near future.
Thanks

It's a vacuum actuator (Item 8, 21 or 22 in the 97-99 parts catalog) for positioning the HVAC doors. Based on the shape of the actuator arm, it may be item 8, P/N 4864 992 , for your defroster door.
