What is the other end of this...
Just noticed this hose hanging from under my jeep. What is it? Here's a pic from the top.

Front diff breather line.. that's good where you put it.
|
What about the other end? It's hanging from the bottom of my jeep pretty much
|
it should be plugged on to the front axle. look for a broken end sticking off the top of the axle tube
|
Got it. Would this cause high oil pressure?
|
nope
how high is high? |
NO,,how high is your oil PSI..
|
It's only up to almost 40 at idle, but it used to hover around 10-20 until driving. Then it would go to 40.

Just had the oil changed recently. Took it for a ride and all seems to be well.
I'm new to owning this thing or any jeep. Appreciate the help. |
The oil pressure senders and leads are notoriously bad on these things, so you might want to check your pressure with a mechanical oil pressure gauge before you go chasing any oil pressure issues. You can buy a decent mechanical gauge kit from Harbor Freight for around $25, less if you find one of their 20% off coupons. It's not a bad thing to have around if you're gonna own a Jeep.
Once you figure out whether you actually have a pressure issue, then you can start figuring out what to do next (if anything). Also, if your breather tube has been off the axle and you suspect it from having been submerged at some point, you might want to go ahead and change the fluid in your front differential since water might have gotten inside. |
