Default What is this hose?

I was underneath looking at some other stuff, then noticed this hose dangling down, can't seem to find where it goes, from either side. It's coming out of the frame rail, so I can't really follow it back to the source.

I believe that is the axle breather tube to let the differential and axle vent/equalize its pressure during temperature changes.

Axle breather. The other end connects to the the top of the brake line union. Part of the hose is still connected to it.

Not sure if there is a check valve on the axle side of the hose, but having the hose broken like that would let water get in the axle. Replace the hose when you get the chance.
