Hello everybody im new to this fourm, but I love all the useful information I've found on here so far. My situation is Im getting ready to purchase a 90 cherokee 4x4 but the power steering pump is shot. I was wondering should i just replace it or take it out completely along with the AC? When it comes to off roading is power steering really that important?

Yes you need power steering. most people actually upgrade it. Trying to turn when your tires are stuck in rocks or mud is not fun. Replace the PS with a dodge durango box. More power and IIRC it is a direct bolt in, you will not regret it.

Also if you are taking out our A/C you can turn that into a air compressor. Search around here for a write up.

I searched around and only came up with a year of 99', but I thought there was a wider range. Can anyone confirm?
