What Exhaust should i get for my jeep?

im considering between borla and flowmaster but i don't know which one is better i know the borla sound nice but which one will give me better performance?

dodge007 12-21-2009 02:45 PM

Sorry i think I read a post somewhere else and it looks like you already made up your mind, so you might as well go with the borla. Both companies are well known and make good products so I don't think you lose either way

TrekkerJmm 12-21-2009 02:48 PM

I got myself a "cherrybomb" from Autozone and IMO it sounds and performs well for the price...Tj

JJaycXj 12-21-2009 02:50 PM

well i WANT to go with Borla but i can find the numbers for how much Hp it gives etc. it sounds nice i know that but if the flowmaster gives better performance then ill get that system i saw that the flowmasters give up to 8 more hp. as i said before i cant find the borla numbers.

All right thanks ill do that right now.

dodge007 12-21-2009 03:03 PM

Even if you haven't blown out your 4.0's stock manifold or exhaust yet, a Borla system is a beneficial upgrade that will offer increased performance and a pleasant exhaust tone with no aggravating cabin reverberations (fourwheeler)

A quick search on Jeepforum looks like borla is less restrictive and gives more power than the flowmaster

hope this helps

DEVILSTOY 12-21-2009 03:32 PM

i got the thrush ll from pep boys , i got the welded one wich is close to a flow master but for 40 bucks , the non welded ones are like 20 bucks and they sound good, i got a high flow cat from summit for under 40 bucks , everything sounds real good and not to loud

BeepBeepImaJeep 12-21-2009 06:16 PM

i gotta do something with my exhaust here soon also, i think im gonna get the flowmaster super 44 they got a good sound to it.

Metmknice 12-21-2009 06:43 PM

Well, on the cheap and a decent sound. Jegs has a 50$ MIR on their dynomax cat-back exhausts. Other than that I do recommend a muffler of your choice and having a local exhaust shop make you an exhaust. Will be cheaper.
Best muffler's on my list are:
Aero Turbine
Magnaflow/bullet performance
Dynomax ultraflo
The flowtech warlock is good for the price also.

the thing with dynomax is you paying for a name , dynomax actually max alot more mufflers under differant names wich are half the price and all the same quality , the thrush ll mufflers are really decent for the price , not saying its the best one , but for the price i paid im extremely happy , i had a flowmaster on my other truck and welds inside broke so i had a constant rattle that was driving me insane , i love magnaflow but they seem pretty over priced to me , but pep boys does sell them now

Throttle Jockey 12-21-2009 07:10 PM

take it to a muffler shop and have it done for half the price.

x2 i have a miller trailblazer diesel 10000w a/c-d/c dual with mig remote contactor on trailer, will travel for the right price.

Metlic53 12-21-2009 11:34 PM

i have the flowmaster super 40 on mine with a magnaflow high flow cat and it sounds great. real throaty sound

JJaycXj 12-22-2009 11:45 AM

i heard those and they do sounds good but the borla sound good to tho. its hard to decide

mycherokee 12-22-2009 11:56 AM

I want your old exhaust my Jeep is missing everything lol but the manifold.

JJaycXj 12-22-2009 12:01 PM

looks like i need to go to pep boys today then. to see all the mufflers.

00XJ 12-22-2009 08:13 PM

ok, i just going to tell you the truth flow master sucks...they are welded and are made of just steel, they withh rust out in about 3 years. borla is real nice but there friggin expensive. And those little thrush or cherry bombs... just flat out sound like crap (no offence you get what you pay for tho its better than stock). I would get a magnaflow. There made of stainless, so thell last longer than your rig, and they sound very, very nice, buts thats just my opinion.

JJaycXj 12-24-2009 01:31 PM

does magnaflow sound better then borla?

troy fritz 12-24-2009 01:35 PM

Im running Dynomax cat back and Magnaflow high flow cat and love em.

they are pretty close i love borla but there way to expensive i would rather but borala on a stang or a street machine magnaflow in my opinion is the way to go, they aint terribly expensive but sound great.

BeepBeepImaJeep 12-24-2009 05:26 PM

ive heard alot of bad things about borla, there poor quality from what ive heard

FLETCH 12-24-2009 06:19 PM

I have a flowmaster 40. I'm really happy with it and IMO it sounds great.

ya they do hold a lot of water

BigRed93xj 12-24-2009 06:29 PM

Flowmaster super 44 offroad eddition and I love it.

BeepBeepImaJeep 12-25-2009 08:23 AM

anyone know what the differences between the flowmaster 40 and 44 are? isnt the 44 louder? and are they both durable and make good power?

JJaycXj 12-25-2009 11:05 AM

yeah i was curious about that to which ones sounds better?

niktheknife 12-25-2009 11:21 AM

my sister has a honda accord with a coffee can and every one in my house hates it. i put on a 20$ cherry bomb from autozone(had a bud just weld it right up to the cat) me and my family are extremely pleased with how it sounds, its not too loud and has a nice deep rumble to it.

o gosh you get an exhaust to make your jeep one big loud and obnoxious as can be

JeepCoMJ 12-25-2009 12:02 PM

you have a 2000....borla header is NOT a bolt-on with a 2000 intake manifold. number 5 cylinder downtube contacts with number 5 cylinder intake "tube" on the intake manifold. just enough that it doesn't allow to bolt flush.

you want an APN header with a 2000. also, go with a flowmaster 40 series muffler...sounds good. deep, throaty, but not TOO much.
