wellll my rear end just went...
 

as said above my rear end blew on the way home from work.. i took the rear drive shaft out and put it in 4-hi and crept it home... now im most likely just going to replace the rear axle.. what can i replace it with? i know the standard d35, 8.25, d44 replacement... and im guessing that it has to be a manual transmission in order to be the same ratio as the front axle... ive also considered the ford 8.8 swap but im pretty sure none of them came with 3.07 gear...

correct me if im wrong or give me some suggestions....

is your jeep stock? if so do you plan on lifting it, what size tires? if you plan on lifting it maybe now would be a good time to find a new set of axles from a jeep with 3.55/3.73/4.10, so you dont have to worry about re-gearing in the future and you'll be ahead of the game.

looks like the explorer rear end came with a 3.08

hit the local upull it yards up there see if you can find a 4cyl xj came with 410s factory direct bolt in front and rear needed hear if your going to get bigger tire in the future, if your not get same transmission that you have so gears are the same.dana 35 or 8.25 your gonna have a hard time finding the 44 rear ive called every where in this state looking for one
