Weird Tranny Problem please help!!
Okay So Ive tried searching around about this but I havent found any answers. I really hope someone can help me cause this is my only vehicle and I need this fixed ASAP.
The Problem ---
I was driving home today on the freeway and out of nowhere, my tranny just gave out or something, like it was in Neutral, or slipped out of gear?
I started to pull over and then it just kicked back in as i was rolling to a stop ! I got home with no problem after that. I have no idea what happened. A few days prior to this my tranny seemed to have problems shifting into the next gear. I turned it on and off a few times and it started working again. While Im driving, it shifts smoothly so I dont think its the tranny , but I have no idea. PLEASE HELP ME GUYS .. I just started nursing school today and I need a way to get there.. this is my only transportation!! lol.. IM so ****ed

Ill try and drain some of that out if that might be the problem.
Also, forgive my Ignorance, but what is the Tps, TCU, and TV cable?

Throttle position sensor, tells the ECU and TCU how open the throttle plate is
Throttle Valve cable, opens a valve in the transmission to control shift points and line pressure.
Transmission Control Unit, controls the transmission. If the TCU goes out you lose all forward gears but 3rd, IIRC.
and remember, it uses DexronIII. Not ATF4.
Someone on here just killed their trans using ATF in it.

Well I just Checked it again and it is still way overfilled.. And it actually says on the Dip stick to check in PARK.. So its not in neutral I guess fellas!
But I checked both ways anyways lol
Actually hey, Is there a way to drain some of the fluid without Having to take the effing pan off?

same issue with tranny
today my tranny hesitated between 1st and 2nd a couple of times. fluid is good and im gonna follow up on the other potential problems (TCU etc.) tomorrow. after i checked fluids and went to go again it felt like it took off in 2nd and then hit 1st when i got on it a little more. i put it into N and shifted the 4wd lever into 4Part and then 4Full, then back to 2wd. with no prob. after that. this issue happened suddenly and w/o any obvious damage to my xj. i have a AW4 tranny and NP242 transfer. ill post at the end of wed 15th. and let you know what happens.
