You really had to be told to open the hood and take a look?

Quick question? Do you have a bad day everyday or just always type negative. Someone asks a question and seems like you always jump down a throat! Take it how you want but just a question.

Some people take longer to mature, dont worry about it. BTW he did not have to be told to pop the hood, the original post said he poped the hood. As for the question at hand. More info is needed. Did you have any service recently, wash the jeep, rain, etc. Look for leaks or steam or smoke.

no i actually just bought it the other day and the first thing i noticed is the smell. thought id ask u guys if u knew anything. sometimes pretty hard to diagnose a problem

Well if its any consolation, mine smells like water or something wet cooking on the engine. Its stronger coming from the radiator. If your really worried about it a few things you can do this weekend... Clean the engine out carefully at a car wash and check all your fluids. Drive it and in a couple of days check the fluids. Its likely just the age of the engine and not much to worry over, but its worth a little research just to be sure.

alright just wondering if it wasnt something out of the ordinary

I only wish people would use a little common sence before asking a question like whats that smell. We can not smell it from our computers so how the hell are we to know what that smell is? Opening the hood and looking would have been the first thing to do before asking such a vague question.

Bingo...

Not to insult the OP but we get an awful lot of very basic questions where if the OP took some initiative themselves they may find their issue. Complile this with a lack of details on what they may have optioned on their rig some expect us to have a magic 8-ball to diagnose their issue.

Again, no insult to the OP.. you could be a young lady with no mechanical experience for all i know. But the majority are people who again, dont take the initiative and want a list of guess' as to what their issue is. The phrase "Help us to help you" holds true in many cases.

Smell under the hood

When I open my hood I can smell money burning but I still haven't figured it out yet. I keep throwing more money under the hood but the smell won't go away. Found out today my water pump is going out the bearings are shot and it smells like money burning. :) I do love my jeep though so I will keep fixing it up till its purring like a kitten.
If you have one of those flush tee's on your line to the heater core check it really well the plastic ones seem prone to leaking. Sorry about the first paragraph I may be a little over caffienated.
