weird rattle noise under jeep
yesterday i noticed that my transmission was leaning on my crossmember... i wanted to ask if this because of an old/bad transmission mount? or could it be something else?

Yep, my transmission mount was bad and my transfer case would knock against the skid plate going over bumps and such. Keeping your motor and transmission mounts in good repair is an very important part of jeep ownership. Bad mounts can crack exhaust manifolds and in extreme situations cause the radiator fan to slam into the radiator. Both are easy fixes and have been discussed here countless times.

Make sure all the bolts are there when replacing not only your trans mount, but engine mounts also.....

The cross-member bolts on mine were frozen in place even though I live in a salt/snow/rust free area of the country. It's a good idea to drench those bolts with pb blaster for a few days to make removal easier. One of my four cross-member bolts was broken off in the frame rail too... I didn't do it, it's always been that way since I've owned it. So far it hasn't caused any problems, but it's a good idea to replace any that are missing.
